Early Warning Signs of Heat Stress

Heat stress can cause physical and mental changes that are warning signs that your body is in danger. Some changes are more dangerous than others. Most people feel hot and uncomfortable during hot weather and many notice a lack of energy or loss of appetite. These are MILD SIGNS and unless they last a long time, there is no need to be alarmed.

Other signs are more serious. If you experience any of these serious signs during hot weather, call your doctor or seek other medical help:

   
  • Dizziness
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Throbbing headache
  • Dry skin; no sweating

  • Chest pain
  • Great weakness
  • Mental changes
  • Breathing problems
  • Vomiting
  • Cramps
